CMS wants to ease the burden of physician documentation of E/M services and teaching physician rules and has used its 2018, 2019 and 2020 Physician Fee Schedule Final Rules to do so. These changes are not reflected in the current CPT book or in the 1995 and 1997 Documentation Guidelines. There is silence from private payers and Medicare Advantage plans about these changes.

This webinar will review CMS’s changed policy for teaching physician rules and E/M services. Each medical group will need to decide for itself whether to implement these changes, with the understanding that they apply to fee-for-service Medicare only.

The coding and reimbursement rules for telehealth changed fast in March. Congress passed a law relaxing certain telemedicine restrictions during the period of a government state of emergency. CMS released rules ten days later with instructions on billing for telehealth, and reminding practices of other non-face-to-face services that can be reported. Some private payers are following suit. This webinar will describe the new telehealth Medicare rules.
