ICD-10 Diagnosis Coding with Margaret Skurka

January 23rd 2020, 12pm EST

CodingIntel.com

Electronic health records and on-line ICD-10 look up have made it easy to find a diagnosis code, and quicker than using the index and ICD-10 book. But, is the code accurate and does using it follow the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting in ICD-10, including chapter specific instructions? This hour-long webinar will review the Official Guidelines FY 2020 , used for coding outpatient physician services. In addition, it will cover these issues:
  • How to code the ICD-10-CM diagnosis for preventive exams, screening tests, and labs ordered at a preventive visit for a patient with a known condition
  • When to use history of cancer and when to continue to use the neoplasm diagnosis
  • How to code follow up visits after a patient is discharged for a condition that is no longer present, but is still being treated (e.g. pulmonary embolism)
Bring your tough ICD-10 questions. Margaret Skurka, our guest presenter,
will answer them.
After the presentation, participants will be able to:
  • Describe where to find and how to use the Official Coding Guidelines that describe diagnosis coding in any setting (which includes the physician office)
  • Select codes for screening services and diagnostic services accurately
  • Know when to use “history of” codes

2020 CPT®Changes

December 12, 2019 @ 12:00 pm (EST)

CodingIntel.com

Learn what’s new in the CPT® code book for 2020.  This high-level overview will provide a summary of the changes in store for your practice. Now that the code sets are active, it is important for practices to dive in, and see what’s deleted, changed and added.

Participants will learn which specialties will see the most changes and how to tell at a glance if their specialty will have many or few changes.  This session will review the key symbols CPT® uses and describe the information a practice can know from these.

What’s new this year? CPT® codes for on-line digital management, skin codes for grafting, insertion and removal of drug delivery systems, and a smattering of new surgical codes. The radiology section has changes in definitions for a few exams and additions. The medicine section has new biofeedback codes, and new and deleted codes for health behavior assessment.

Have your CPT® book handy for this webinar.

After the seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Define the symbols CPT® uses to indicate new and changed codes
  • Identify new codes, if any, that the practice will use
  • Explain the source documentation for coding changes

“My organization approached Betsy Nicoletti because we had providers failing coding audits.

Betsy’s name is out there in the coding world as a leader in the field and wanted the best for our providers.

Betsy works with the organization to set up webinars for our new provider on boarding training process (which according to them has been most beneficial), as well as subsequent auditing to ensure provider engagement and understanding.

Betsy’s one on one approach has helped the organization overall by the specialized attention to our specific needs.

I appreciate Betsy’s tactful approach with the providers to lessen their concerns as it relates to proper coding. She is up to date on all of the current changes in coding and maintains the communication whenever warranted.

Overall I have found the experience of working with Betsy as positive and educational. I would not hesitate to recommend Betsy to any organization that needs to improve their coding practices and improve success rates from outside auditing.”
